Privacy Policy

Who we are

SUMMER is provided by Double Cassette Inc. (“Double Cassette,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how information is handled when you visit summer-stems.com, download the SUMMER demo, purchase SUMMER, or activate a SUMMER license.

Website information

Our website is delivered through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process limited technical information, such as network requests, IP addresses, device and browser information, and security signals, to deliver and protect the website.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate website traffic and performance. It is designed without advertising cookies and, according to Cloudflare, does not collect or use visitors’ personal data.

Demo downloads

SUMMER demo installers can be downloaded without providing an email address. The installer files are delivered through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process limited technical information, such as network requests, IP addresses, and device or browser information, to deliver and protect the downloads under its own privacy policy.

When a download starts, we receive a notification with the file name, the channel described below, the page of our website or the name of the other website where the download link was clicked, the time, and details Cloudflare derives from the request: approximate location (country, region and city), time zone, preferred language, device type, and browser and operating system. In Chrome we also ask for the macOS version and processor type (Apple Silicon or Intel). We do not record your IP address or precise location.

Where visitors come from

When you arrive, the page you open notes the channel that brought you, such as Instagram, YouTube, a search engine or another website, from the link’s labels, the referring site or the app whose browser you are using. It is not stored: it is passed along only on the page’s own links. If you download SUMMER, you may receive a copy of the installer for that channel, which carries one channel word (for example “instagram”) and is otherwise identical. If you buy SUMMER, from the website or from inside the app, the channel is passed to Polar with your order, so we can tell which channels people find SUMMER through. It contains nothing that identifies you and is not shared with advertisers.

Update check

SUMMER checks summer-stems.com for a newer version at most once a day and when you choose Check for Updates. The request sends no personal data, license key or device identifier.

Anonymous usage information

From version 1.3.3, SUMMER asks the first time it opens whether it may send anonymous information about how the app is used. Nothing is sent unless you choose Share.

What is collected:

• which steps you reached, such as choosing files, making a preview and listening;
• whether a preview finished;
• problems SUMMER reported;
• your SUMMER version, macOS version and Mac hardware details;
• your country.

What is not collected:

• your audio;
• file or folder names;
• your license key;
• your name or contact details;
• your IP address (it is not stored).

Reports are stored with Cloudflare for 120 days and used only to improve SUMMER. You can withdraw your consent at any time with SUMMER > Share Anonymous Usage Info.

If you use the demo, SUMMER may ask once, when you quit, what stopped you from buying. Your answer is sent only if you press Send, and is kept for 120 days.

YouTube tutorial

Our tutorial uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embedded player. When the player loads or you watch the video, your browser connects to YouTube, which may process technical information under Google’s Privacy Policy.

Purchases and licensing

Polar Software, Inc. acts as the merchant of record and authorized reseller for SUMMER. When you purchase, Polar handles information such as your name, email address, billing details, payment information, tax information, order history, receipts, license keys, and customer-portal access under its own privacy policy. Double Cassette may receive order, customer, license, and support information needed to provide the software and support your purchase.

When you activate or validate SUMMER, the app sends the license key and a randomly generated device identifier to Polar. SUMMER stores the local activation record in the macOS Keychain. This information is used to validate the license, enforce its activation limit, prevent misuse, and provide offline license access for a limited period.

Your audio stays on your Mac

SUMMER processes your mix and stem files locally on your Mac. The application does not upload your audio files to Double Cassette or Polar as part of its normal processing.

Cookies

We do not use advertising cookies. Cloudflare may use cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary for security, fraud prevention, or delivery of the website. Polar’s checkout and customer portal may use their own necessary technologies under Polar’s policies.

Our website sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser.

How information is used

Information available to us may be used to deliver and license SUMMER, provide support, communicate about a purchase, protect the software and website, diagnose problems, comply with legal obligations, and improve the product and website.

Sharing and retention

We share information only with service providers that help operate SUMMER and the website, when required by law, to protect legal rights and prevent fraud, or as part of a corporate transaction. Service providers process information under their own terms and applicable data-protection obligations.

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for licensing, support, security, accounting, tax, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. Polar controls the retention of information it processes as merchant of record.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to make a request. For payment, order, and Polar-account requests, you may also need to contact Polar directly.

Children

SUMMER is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product, website, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the latest version.
